Pizza - grab a slice for just 99 cents at one of these 99 cent pizza joints, most of them open until midnight.
Books - get an airplane read, rainy day read or beach read for just $1 at sale racks outside the Strand Bookstore.
Pickles - the olden days of a pickle for a nickel are gone, but a fat, juicy one is still a buck or less at The Pickle Guys on the Lower East Side, or from their booth at one of NYC’s many street fairs. Make mine a full sour, and pucker up, baby.

Carousel - get a ride for $1 on the Riverbank State Park carousel. The view of the Hudson River is FREE.

Mini-Burgers - get an Angus beef burger slider from 123 Burger Shot Beer on Tenth Ave. and 50th St. Beers are $2.
Cosmetics and hair accessories - get brand name lipstick, mascara, nail polish and more for $1 at Lot-Less, with locations on Chambers and Fulton Streets and Midtown near the Port Authority Bus Terminal. It’s the NYC version of Family Dollar Stores.
Spices and teas - get great food bargains at another NYC close-outs discounter, Jack’s 99-Cent Store, with multiple locations around town. Aother NYC version of Family Dollar Stores.
Museum admission - go on “pay what you wish” days, and if you wish to pay just $1, that’s okay. Except at the Met Museum, which has instituted a mandatory $25 admission fee for visitors who don’t live in NYC or NY State and have the ID to prove it.
