Van Gogh 360-Degree Exhibit

POSTED BY
Evelyn Kanter

Van Gogh immersive experienceHave you ever wanted to walk into a painting?  You can, at the Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience, a revolutionary art concept opening in June.  Tickets are now on sale.

Van Gogh’s most famous works are projected on two-story screens, and you enter and explore them, some via VR headsets, so you can experience one of history’s greatest and most popular artists of all time in 360-degrees.

Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience is a 20,000 square foot light and sound spectacular that lets you become completely immersed in the works of art around you.

This is the smaller of TWO similar immersive Van Gogh exhibits in NYC with similar names but different exhibits, locations and prices, which is confusing.

This one is on Vesey Street, near the World Trade Center.

We attended the other one - the larger one - and loved it.

Original Immersive Van Gogh Exhibit New York

At both, animations of Van Gogh’s work including The Potato Eaters,  Starry Night, Sunflowers, The Bedroom are projected on the walls and floor of the exhibit, bringing van Gogh’s work to life, and you right in the middle of them.

In addition to a spacious central area where Van Gogh’s works stretch floor-to-ceiling, the experience includes separate galleries that chronicle his life, technique, and influence thru informative panels, larger than life re-creations and engaging interactives.

This monumental art experiences comes to New York City after Naples, Italy, Brussels, Belgium, and most recently at York St Mary’s in the UK.

If you want to know more about Van Gogh before this exhibit opens, visit MOMA, the Museum of Modern Art, which is home to his famous Starry Night painting.

There’s more info on the artist on the MOMA Van Gogh Gallery website.

It’s one of several important art exhibits opening in New York City in the coming months.
