Save the date for a special event on TV, celebrating an iconic and beloved Broadway show before it re-opens live on Broadway.
Wicked stars Kristin Chenoweth, Idina Menzel, other cast members and well-known performers celebrate the long-running musical in a program airing on PBS at 9pm (ET) on Sunday, August 29. Wicked re-opens on Broadway two weeks later, on Sept. 14.

Wicked in Concert: A Musical Celebration of the Iconic Broadway Score will feature reimagined musical arrangements created just for the broadcast, performed by celebrity artists from the worlds of film, pop music, and television.
The evening will be co-hosted by Wicked‘s original stars Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel, with performances by -

Cynthia Erivo (The Color Purple),
Stephanie Hsu (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel),

Isaac Powell (West Side Story),
Amber Riley (Glee),
Gabrielle Ruiz (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend), and
Ali Stroker (Oklahoma!).
Musical numbers in the concert include “The Wizard and I,” “Defying Gravity,” “Popular”, “Wonderful,” “No Good Deed,” “For Good,” and “As Long As You’re Mine.”
Based on the novel by Gregory Maguire, Wicked has music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, and a book by Winnie Holzman. The production is directed by Tony Award winner Joe Mantello with musical staging by Tony Award winner Wayne Cilento. The musical began performances at the Gershwin Theatre on October 8, 2003 ahead of an official October 30 opening.
Wicked in Concert is directed by Broadway legend Baayork Lee (A Chorus Line). The Associate Director is Tara Young and Assistant Director is Cassey Kivnick.
The concert features lighting design by Zach Blane, with musical direction by Luke Frazier. The orchestra arrangements are created by Frazier with members of the American Pops Orchestra and filmed in multiple locations including Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, and New York City

What a bunch of crap. Have waited for a month and have friends lined up to see only to find West coast gets zip and it requires purchasing streaming equipment. Why couldn’t all of this been explained over last 30 days? We missed a great thing.
