Starting with New Year’s Day, there are more than three dozen legal and religious holidays in NYC in 2022 when parking meter or alternate side parking (ASP) rules are suspended, and you don’t have to move your car.
Note that No Stopping, No Standing, No Parking and parking meter regulations remain in effect on all but six of those holidays.
Alternate side parking rules and parking meter rules are suspended only on what are called major legal holidays.
Those six days are:
- New Year’s Day,
- Memorial Day,
- Independence Day,
- Labor Day,
- Thanksgiving and
- Christmas Day.
They re marked with an asterisk (*) in the monthly list, below.
Alternate Side Parking rules also may be suspended because of weather-related emergencies such as snow, or other emergencies.
