This happened after Jimmy personally attended one of Pete’s live shows in NYC and immediately invited him on the show. Pete’s joyful humor comes from his Midwestern roots. Raised in Janesville, WI by divorced parents and a 19-inch television, he was destined to pursue a career in entertainment. A semi-finalist on NBC’s "Last Comic Standing", Pete was also a cast member and writer for VH1’s "Best Week Ever", and has been seen on "NFL Rush", TruTV’s "Comedy Knockout" and Comedy Central’s "Roast Battle". Be on board when the party train pulls into Katch Astoria in Queens. The Latin/Caribbean Silent Disco has everything you need for a funtastic Friday night: food, drinks and lots of room to dance. This party brings together hundreds of people singing and dancing while three live DJs battle for your attention on the main stage. There'll also be a dance instructor teaching you salsa and merengue dance moves. If that sounds like pure cacophony, it’s not: You’ll be wearing special wireless headphones, and you can choose among the DJs with a mere flip of a switch. Find someone cute in the crowd whose hips are swinging to the same beat you’re hearing, and make a connection! It’s super social; you’re in control of the music you hear, and yet there’s no loud noise drowning out conversation. Plus, there’s no ringing in your ears when you leave! [less-]

Just as good as importing the Gipsy Kings themselves, Los Cintron is the real deal. Popular around the world, the Cintron brothers play a mix of world, Latin, and flamenco music. They have performed with a host of notable artists, including Gazpacho Andalu, Duende Camaron, and Barbara Martinez. They've also played in front of just about every type of audience imaginable, including the Metroplitan Opera in Carmen at Lincoln Center. The guitars, vocals, and melodies of Los Cintron will transport you directly to Spain. Both Christobal and Rafael Cintron showed musical promise at an early age and were encouraged to sing by their mother Maria Teresa Lugana Santos. Natives of Spain, they arrived in the U.S. at an early age and have been living both here and abroad for the last 30 years. Their music is expansive, they sing with the souls of gypsies, and they will enchant you with their rhythms. Whatever the occasion, these brothers will enchant, charm and seduce their audiences to no end. See them live at Club Bonafide. [less-]

The illegitimate son of a French laundress in turn-of-the-century Buenos Aires, Carlos Gardel would ultimately rise to fame as one of the greatest tango singers of all time. Now the legendary tango star gets a rousing musical tribute by popular musical duo Yael & Gabriel at Club Bonafide in NYC. Yael Dray-Barel is a French-Israeli singer-songwriter influenced by rock and gypsy jazz, and her songs often incorporate the five languages she speaks. Argentinian guitarist Gabriel Hermida infuses his compositions with the essence of classical tango, flamenco and contemporary jazz. At this special concert, the pair will pay tribute to the bossa nova legend and put a spotlight on Hermida's countryman Ástor Piazzolla, who's credited with adding a touch of jazz and classical to tango, forging a new style called nuevo tango. "Gatsby in Paris": French Chansons & Jazz Standards From the '20s to the '40s, featuring enchanting French singer Chloé Perrier and her new band, the French Heart Jazz Band. This irrepressibly charming show is a mix of French chansons and American jazz standards from the '20s to the '40s with a continental flare. Chloé sings an intriguing mix of jazz, chanson, Brazilian and occasionally Romany-tinged numbers in French, as well as in English. The group is known for its reinvention of the old chestnut "My Heart Belongs to Daddy" as a bolero-tinged "Twin Peaks" theme, an obscure '20s hot jazz tune that Perrier had found in a history book, and the classic "La Vie en Rose." Come to Club Bonafide in New York City and listen as exes get dissed and relationships gone wrong are dissected and remembered through glasses that aren't exactly rose-colored. [less-]
