Some of the best NYC museums are in historic homes and mansions, several dating to the Revolutionary War or Civil War.
Here are seven historic homes in Manhattan and the Bronx well worth a visit, including homes where Alexander Hamilton and Edgar Allen Poe lived and worked, when theses parts of New York City were still country, surrounded by farms.
If only the walls could talk.
They would tell us even more than the wonderful exhibits and furnishings.
