Movies on the cheap: AMC Theatres has added a third tier to its loyalty program Stubs last year, which offers blockbuster savings for frugal film fanatics.
See up to three movies every week with the Stubs A-List level, including movies in Dolby Cinema, IMAX, RealD 3D, digital and more, for one low monthly membership fee.
The price varies by state, but starts at $19.95. With movie tickets going for up to $15 in some cities, including New York City, that’s a good deal - but only if you see enough first run films to make the membership pay.
But it pays back in two visits, and after that you are seeing movies essentially for free.
See movies on Tuesdays for $5
Even if you don’t upgrade to the Stubs A-List level, Stubs members pay just $5 to see movies on Tuesdays.
With all the summer blockbuster movies about to open, this is a good time to join AMC Stubs, and you can cancel your A-List membership at any time.
Stubs A-List features
It’s also a good deal because there are no blackout dates, including holidays such as the big July Fourth weekend.
However, premium events such as See-It-First events, Fathom events, marathons and Metropolitan Opera events are excluded.
You can go to a triple feature in one day or watch movies throughout the week. Given the program includes all formats, it basically pays for itself in just one or two visits. Whether you go to the movies a few times month or every weekend, the new loyalty level is definitely worth “the price of admission.”
Plus, if you really, really like a movie, watch it again and again. There is no restriction on how many times you can see the latest blockbuster, beyond the weekly limit.
Benefits reset every Friday morning, so you can enjoy the latest flicks every week. Plus, AMC Stubs A-List members receive all the same benefits that an AMC Stubs Premiere member receives, including popcorn refills, concession upgrades and rewards.
New members require a 3-month minimum commitment, but, after that threshold, you can cancel at anytime.
