Celebrate the Chinese New Year of the Golden Ox online with family-friendly FREE dance performances by the renowned Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company and guest artists.
The performances begin with the arrival of the Chinese Lunar New Year on Thursday, Feb. 11, and continue through Saturday, Feb. 13, with three performances daily. So you have nine chances to see this colorful and vibrant happy new year dance experience.
Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company is offering two performances each day specifically for children ages 6-15. The evening performances are for all ages.
Performances for children are 45 minutes. The evening celebrations are one hour.
Nai-Ni Chen dancers will peform some of the most treasured traditional dances performed at the Chinese New Year, including the Lion Dance and the Dragon Dance.
Originated during the Tang Dynasty more than 3,000 years ago, these dances celebrate the coming of the spring and the harmony between nature and humankind.
Showcasing the diversity of the traditional and contemporary Chinese performing arts, the company will perform a colorful folk dance from the Xingjian Province, an area near Central Asia on the Silk Road and some of Nai-Ni and guest artist’s new creations.
This special Chinese New Year Celebration also will present some of the most skillful craft artists in New Jersey’s Chinese-American community online during the days of the performance.

This auspicious 4719th Chinese New Year is the Year of the Golden Ox and the departure of the not so auspicious Year of the Golden Rat.
On the Chinese lunar calendar, each year is symbolized by a different animal, and each cycle is rep-resented by one of the five fundamental elements that the ancient Chinese believed made up the universe: Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth.
