The Iceland-based discount airline WOW is offering $99 flights between NYC and Iceland to launch its new service from New York. And you can add on one of the airline’s 23 destinations in Europe for another $149.
That means you can visit London, Paris, Berlin, Frankfurt, Dublin, Amsterdam, Copenhagen and Stockholm for less than $250 each way. Wow!
Tickets go on sale today for flights beginning in November 2016, from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR).
WOW air began serving Boston and Baltimore/Washington, D.C. last year, and added service from San Francisco and Los Angeles recently, also with introductory $99 fares.
Service from EWR to and from Iceland will be available seven days a week with connecting flights onwards to other European destinations available.
WOW will fly Airbus A321-300 aircrafts in and out of Newark, the first wide-body planes in the WOW air fleet. Because this is a discount airline, all 350 seats are the same budget class. Seat pitch will vary from 30 inches as standard to 34 inches at an additional charge.
Launched in November 2011, WOW air now connects twenty-nine destinations across the U.S. and Europe with the international airport in Rekyavik, Iceland’s capital.
WOW air expects its annual passenger capacity will more than double this year, to more than 1.8 million, up from approximately 840,000 in 2015.
Wow! $99 flights to Iceland. Thanks, WOW air.
Travel warning: Note that once you get to Iceland, everything is ridiculously expensive. Expect to pay NYC prices for everything. That was my experience on my most recent visit.
