Women’s March on NYC against intolerance

POSTED BY

Women's March on NYC

Join the Women’s March on NYC next Sat., Jan. 21st, to protest racial, religious and gender intolerance and show support for the fight for civil liberty in the USA. It’s FREE to register and march, and you’ll be among thousands of women – and men, and children – who feel the same way.

The Women’s March on NYC against bigotry begins  at 11am at Dag Hammskjold Plaza, First Ave. at 48th St., in the shadow of the United Nations and marches to Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue and 57th St.

A similar Women’s March on Washington, D. C., also is scheduled on the first full day of the new Trump administration, to send a message to the White House, to Congress, and to the world, that we stand together in solidarity and expect elected leaders to act to protect the rights of women, their families and their communities.

More than 65,000 people have registered already for the NYC march, so start times are being staggered.

When you register, you’ll get the start time for you, your family, your group.  There are separate registration links for individuals and for groups.

There also will be speakers and other events after the march.  If you can’t march, you can donate on the website, or buy a t-shirt, or both.

Marchers are registering from all over the country, but most marchers will be New Yorkers and from the Tri-State area.

There’s also a Women’s March on Washington, D.C. on Jan. 21st,  led by a national coordinating committee, volunteer organizers representing all 50 states, and numerous partner organizations. Partners include Planned Parenthood, Amnesty International, United We Dream, Muslim Women’s Alliance.

The goals of the Women’s March on NYC are worthy:

  • Empower and encourage everybody who sees or participates in the Women’s March on NYC to stand up for their beliefs and their rights
  • Remind governments that they report to the people and the people expect their civil liberties to be upheld
  • Demonstrate to the incoming US cabinet the speed and ease with which the people can mobilize if policies promoting inequality arise
  • Bring hope to those who have lost confidence in the US government by physically showing them that the power lies with the people
  • Remind every American that their right to assemble, march, demonstrate, protest, and vote is sacred and only available to citizens of free countries, countries like the United States of America
