Take a snow day at the annual Winter Jam in Central Park next Saturday, Jan. 28, with FREE skiing, cross country skiing and snowboarding lessons, an ice slide for kids, ice sculpting and more. It’s all happening 11am to 3pm at the Central Park Bandshell in Rumsey Field, rain or shine, so let’s hope for shine.
Winter Jam is presented by NYC Parks in cooperation with Love NY, I SKI NY and Lake Placid, and sponsored REI, Petro Home Services, and Polis Montessori World School, and fresh blown snow by Gore Mountain.

Activities at Winter Jam include:
- Arctic Golf
- Live Ice Sculpting
- Ice Slide (for children five years old and younger)
- Fit Fun on the Run and the Fit Fun Mobile
- Shuffleboard
- Taste NY Winter Market / Warming Hut, where you can sample Made in New York foods
- REI’s All Out 2017 Workshops: Winter Camping, Wilderness Survival, How to Pack Your Pack
- Live entertainment
Arctic Golf, Snowshoeing, Snowboarding and Skiing Lessons, Live Entertainment by various music groups, a Taste NY Hut & Market which is a place to sample various NY foods while warming up and also purchase food items too! There will also be food trucks on hand as well.
Note that participants in cross–country skiing, snowshoeing, and snowboarding/skiing lessons must sign a waiver and provide photo identification before participating in any of these activities. The waivers will be provided at the event. Participants under the age of 18 must have a legal guardian present with photo identification to sign the waiver. Waiting lines for the activities are subject to close early.
