**WEATHER UPDATE**

WINTER JAM FESTIVAL CANCELLED DUE TO SNOWSTORM

What perfect timing: Mother Nature is planning to dump up to a foot of snow on NYC Friday night and Saturday, just in time for the annual Winter Jam festival of FREE events in Central Park, including sledding and learning to ski and snowboard on snow from snowmaking guns if Mother Nature doesn’t come through.

Grab your scarf and mittens for the family-friendly Winter Jam 2016 winter sports festival, 11am to 3pm Saturday, Jan. 23rd in the Bandshell area, mid-park at 72nd St.  Snowmaking is courtesy of the snowmakers at Gore Mountain, i. There’s also live entertainment, and, of course, information on New York State’s great ski resorts.

Kids ski and snowboard FREE in New York State.
Get information here on how to get a free pass

Here’s what to expect:

  • Lake Placid Snow Field
  • Snowshoeing
  • Learn to Ride: Skiing and Snowboarding
  • Sledding and Kicksledding
  • Taste NY Winter Market

Equipment is provided FREE, or bring your own snow sports gear and enjoy the terrain, including a half-pipe. Please note that lines for activities may close early.

Winter Jam 2016 is rain or shine – or snow.

Note that participants in snowshoeing and in snowboarding/skiing lessons must sign a waiver and provide photo identification before participating. Participants under the age of 18 must have a legal guardian present with photo identification to sign the waiver.
