The blockbuster Alexander McQueen exhibit at the Met Museum closed last night after drawing record crowds for its three-month run. And even though the museum extended both the days and the hours, many of us were not able to get tickets, and those who did had to suffer savage lines and crowds. Fear not. There’s a new Alexander McQueen fashion exhibit in the works — for FREE — at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Save the date — the new FIT fashion exhibit opens on September 16th, dedicated to the fabulous clothing and accessories collection of brewery heiress Daphne Guinness. It’s not all McQueen. Designers on display include Valentino, Tom Ford, Chanel, Nina Ricci, Dior and Givenchy. The exhibit will run through January. FIT is at 27th Street and Seventh Avenue. Museum hours are Tuesday-Friday, noon to 8 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There’s no word yet whether FIT will extend hours for McQueen-aholocics.
