Vintage and classic cars are the stars of the Fairfield County Concours d’Elegance this weekend, September 11th and 12th. These are beautiful, hand-crafted vehicles from the 1930s through the 1950s, and unlike cars you see in an car museum, these are in prime running condition, lovingly cared for by their owners who drive them regularly. The 1933 Duesenberg shown here, with its owner, was one of the ‘best in show’ winners of 2009. Tickets to walk around this very special used car lot are $25, kids 16 and under are free when accompanied by a paying adult. Or, buy a family pass for $40 for two adults and two kids.
Fabulous fact — ever heard the expression “it’s a doozy”? It’s from the Duesenberg, one of the most expensive cars on the road at the time, and the expression came to mean something — or somebody — was special or unusual.
