Virtual Happy Hour Mixology

POSTED BY
Evelyn Kanter
Learn how to make cocktails at home with the mixlogists of the Dead Rabbit in Lower Manhattan, which has won awards for being the world’s best bar and best cocktail menu.

The Happy Hour Mixology virtual class is $5 and all proceeds support staff while the bar remains closed in response to Covid-19.

If you are drinking more and enjoying it less while you shelter in place, it’s time to learn the tricks of the bartender trade with the best in the business.

It’s also your chance to get inside this popular 19th century style style Irish/New York drinking saloon, which is normally packed with Wall St. types.

The  Mixology Happy Hour is Thursday, April 23, 7pm to 8pm.

Back to The Dead Rabbit mixology happy hour:

Ir features head bartender Ian Alexander, demonstrating how to mix three cocktails.

Two of them are classics, and one is a Dead Rabbit special, but all can be made from basic bar staples in the comfort of your own home.

You’ll also learn how best to stock a home bar, recipes for infusions and other elements to elevate your cocktail game and get answers to your burning amatuer mixologist questions.

For additional donations to the Dead Rabbit, please visit their GoFundMe page.

More about the award-winning bar:

The Dead Rabbit is a tri-level mid-19th century style Irish/New York drinking saloon at 30 Water Street in Lower Manhattan.

It won “World’s Best Bar” and “World’s Best Cocktail Menu” Spirited Awards at 2015 Tales of the Cocktail, representing the highest industry accolades, and World’s Best Bar at World’s 50 Best Bars 2016. Previous awards include “Best American Cocktail Bar” and “World’s Best Drinks Selection” in 2014, and  “World’s Best Cocktail Menu” and “International Bartender of the Year” in 2013.

Head bartender Ian Alexander joined the team in June of 2017.  He is passionate about cocktails and about creating a world class experience of Irish hospitality for every guest that walks into the bar.

Ian began his career in cocktail bartending while attending Rutgers University in New Jersey, where he tended bar at Due Mari, a Chef Michael White restaurant, and became head bartender there before moving to The Dead Rabbit.
