There’s sure to be a line later today around Veselka, when the East Village cheap eats institution turns back the clock on prices. Bowls of their famous borscht are just 60 cents, a heaping plate of Ukranian-style dumplings called pierogies is just $1.50, coffee to wash it all down will be just 10 cents, or choose an old-fashioned lime rickey.
But there’s a catch.
The throwback prices are for less than one hour. Just 54 minutes to be exact, from 6 PM to 6:54 PM, apparently to honor its opening year, 1954.. Usually, when restaurants turn back prices like this, as Paul’s da Burger Joint did over the weekend, it’s to celebrate an anniversary,
