The much maligned US Postal Service is faster and cheaper than sending your holiday packages via UPS. At least, that’s my experience. I just paid $19.99 for two-day USPS delivery, vs. $30 plus at UPS, which told me it could take up to ten days because of the holidays, even with the most expensive ship-by-air rate, which would be closer to $40.
The US Postal Service (USPS) gave me a tracking number, insurance and guaranteed signature by recipient via Priority Mail, for $19.99, to ship cross-country, from NYC to Southern California.
UPS would give me a tracking number and insurance, but no recipient signature, for at least $10 more than the USPS charged me.
We comparison shop for the best prices for our holiday gifts. We should also comparison shop for the best prices to ship them.
And, we should comparison shop for the best return policies, because those are not the same, either. Here’s a guide to store return policies.
UPS and FedEx do a great job year-round delivering packages. So does the US Postal Service.
