Wednesday, August 5th is Universal Peace Day, being marked in NYC with a FREE event in Central Park commemorating the 70th anniversary of the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki three days later.
It’s part of a global event of ringing bells around the world for Peace and A World Without War in Strawberry Fields – in Central Park (enter West 72nd Street).
At 6:30pm, the public is invited to ring bells and share in Visions of Peace with poetry, dance and music. The event opens with a Native American ceremony led by Grandmother SilverStar and Gentle Bear. Artists from around the world share their visions of Peace. This is a reunion bringing together performers, who have appeared at past Universal Peace Day events in New York City.
Six war memorials you can visit in NYC on Universal Peace Day or any day, to reflect on the price of freedom.
