The Tribeca Film Festival has announced headline events for its 2017 Tribeca Talks conversation series, including appearances by Oscar winners Barbra Streisand and Alejandro González Iñárritu (The Revenant).
The 16th annual Tribeca Film Festival is April 19 to 30, 2017.
Streisand will take part in the Storytellers series, which features pioneering creators who work across mediums to tell their stories.
González Iñárritu will participate in one of the headline conversations in the Directors series.
Fellow Oscar winner Kathryn Bigelow (The Hurt Locker) and director Imraan Ismail also are participating, with a virtual reality short documentary that they co-directed, The Protectors: Walk in the Ranger’s Shoes. The film transports viewers to a day in the life of African rangers protecting elephants from ivory poachers.
“As the first woman to win the Oscar for directing, Kathryn Bigelow continues to break boundaries in storytelling by using VR to take us to the front-line battle with ivory poachers in the Congo in the stunning new documentary,” Jane Rosenthal, executive chair of Tribeca Enterprises and a Tribeca Film Festival co-founder, said in a statement.
Additional programming will be announced in 2017.
