Toys R Us is collecting donations in more than 870 US stores and on-line to support autism research and education programs. April is National Autism Month, and the Toys R Us fund-raising program is called Shine a Light for Autism, to benefit Autism Speaks, the world’s leading autism science and advocacy organization. Funds raised will go to the Autism Speaks community grans program, to provide services to families with autistic children.
Donate directly on the Toys R Us Autism Speaks website, where 100% of your donation goes to the charity and the families affected by autism. Those who donate $10 or more to Autism Speaks at any Toys R Us or Babies R Us store will get a limited-edition poster designed by an artist with autism, who is the son of a long-time Toys R Us employee. While supplies last.
Also, visitors to the Toys R Us Autism Speaks website can download a FREE guide to the best toys that speak to autism. The company collaborated with Autism Speaks and the National Lekotek Center, a nonprofit organization dedicated to making play accessible for children with disabilities, to identify toys that can help kids with autism develop language, creativity and social skills, among others, while playing alongside siblings and friends.
Toys R Us and Babies R Us are officials sponsors of Walk Now for Autism Speaks. There are walks nationwide this weekend, April 6 and 7. Find one near you by zipcode.
