It was a full house last night at the NYPL Mid-Manhattan branch for my FREE talk on Peaceful Places in NYC, the title of my most recent travel guidebook. Everybody had a great time, especially me, because I love to share good news about my home town. Lots of you asked great questions about peaceful, tranquil, serene places in NYC, and lots of you had additional suggestions. I saw lots of pens moving on paper, taking notes.
My presentation was part of the on-going series at the Mid-Manhattan branch featuring local authors discussing their books, including important current affairs subjects. Next week, the featured author is Sara Cedar Miller, the official photographer and historian for the Central Park Conservancy. Her most recent book is Strawberry Fields: Central Park’s Memorial to John Lennon. That’s Tuesday, July 12th at 6:30, also FREE. BTW — the cover photo of Peaceful Places New York City is the exquisite Bow Bridge in Central Park. But you knew that.
