There’s still time to make a taxable donation to the NYC museums, parks and libraries you have enjoyed this year, or plan to enjoy next year. Some will even double your donation with a match from a corporate supporter or wealthy individual. Here’s where to donate directly, bypassing fund-raisers who keep a chunk of the money they raise –
The Skyscraper Museum – This little gem in Battery Park offers exhibits such as the history of the Woolworth Building, once the tallest in the world. A Museum trustee has pledged to match dollar-for-dollar all gifts received through midnight on January 31, up to $25,000. Donate here.
New York Public Library – Feed the famous stone lions on Fifth Avenue, and all their cubs, otherwise known as NYPL branches throughout the city. The NYPL is the world’s greatest FREE public library system, but it takes money to keep it operating. Donate here.
City Parks Foundation – This is the public-private partnership that sponsors hundreds of FREE performances and programs in NYC parks year-round, including the blockbuster SummerStage, plus fishing programs and more. Donate here.
The High Line – This park has set the standard worldwide for converting an eyesore into a jewel, and it needs money to open another section and help maintain existing sections. Donate here.
