SummerStage Anywhere digital series is honoring the 155th Anniversary of Juneteenth, the national commemoration of the end of slavery in the United States, with a free digital day of dance starting at noon Friday, June 19, and available after that on demand.

Tune into the SummerStage Instagram channel starting at 12 Noon, catch tribute performances all afternoon, including an excerpt of RudduR Dance ballet’s “WITNESS”.
At 7PM, join the SummerStage YouTube channel for a panel discussion, Reflecting the Times, led by Hope Boykin of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.
That’s followed by a tribute performance of “HANGING TREE” – a solo dedicated to the MAAFA, a Swahili word referring to “the great suffering” during the transatlantic slave trade – featuring Jamel Gaines Creative Outlet Dance Theatre, vocalist Marcelle Davies-Lashley, and poet Carl Hancock Rux.
There are additional exclusive digital performances all month on SummerStage Anywhere including pop artist MAX on June 24th at 7PM, and global superstar Angelique Kidjo on June 26th at 7 PM, both premiering on our SummerStage YouTube channel.
