The annual SummerStage Family Day, as so many NYC events, goes virtual this year. The event, on Sunday, August 2nd, features a new show by the Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre and an Afrobeat dance workshop with Diddi Emah, who has performed with Beyonce, Chaka Khan, Missy Elliot and many others.
SummerStage Family Day ends with a performance by classical/hip hop hybrid string duo Black Violin, whose “unique sound mashes together Bach with Biggie Smalls.” These two classically trained musicians blend classical music with genres like hip-hop, rock and pop while breaking down stereotypes and inspiring kids to pursue careers in the arts.
As always, SummerStage Family Day is FREE presented by Disney. and the Capital One City Parks Foundation – thank you both very much – including this virtual version.
