Things are finally turning around at the South Street Seaport, which was pretty much demolished by Superstorm Sandy. A major developer just announced it will install an eight-screen deluxe movie theater with food and drink service.
It will be like a private screening room, or first class airline service, similar to the dinner-and-a-movie theaters cropping up around Los Angeles.
According to the New York Post, the new South St. movie theater will be a 40,000 square foot complex at 11 Fulton St. in the Fulton Marketplace, set to open in mid-2015. Seeing a movie will cost $14 to $28 person, depending on the night of the week and the level of service, but, apparently, all seats will have call buttons for waitstaff service.
I’m not sure I want to spend $28 to see a movie that’s interrupted by the guy next to me ordering and getting delivery of filet mignon sliders.
