Good news for fans of Brooklyn’s Smorgasburg and Lower Manhattan – the popular foodie destination is opening a branch at the South Street Seaport. It’s an effort to revitalize the area following the incredible damage from Hurricane Sandy and feed hungry hordes with NYC-made food and drink. Many businesses at the Seaport remain closed, six months after the storm.
Brooklyn Flea, which operates Smorgasburg, has organized a dozen food and beverage vendors to set up on Front Street in the pedestrian-only area of South Street Seaport every day, starting Saturday, May 25, through October. Hours are Sunday toThursday: 11am-10pm and Friday/Saturday: 11am-11pm. Alongside the food booths and carts, the Flea will operate a full bar inside a shipping container, serving local and other beers, wines, and spirits. An additional bar will be located on Fulton Street on top of another shipping container.
These are vendors for the first two weeks, with addtional vendors to be added later in the season:
- Asia Dog
- Blue Marble Ice Cream (cart)
- Brooklyn Oyster Party
- Brooklyn Soda Works (cart)
- Fonda
- Kelvin Slush Company (Front St. bar only)
- Landhaus
- Milk Truck Grilled Cheese
- Pizza Moto
- Red Hook Lobster Pound
- Rice & Miso Everyday
See you at the Seaport. And remember that Smorgasburg every Saturday in Williamsburg, and every Sunday in Dumbo.
