Contributions to New York City’s Hurricane Sandy relief fund have passed $32 million, and continue to come in from all over the world. The Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City Hurricane Relief Fund is for emergency response needs and long-term restoration efforts. 100% of donations will be used to support relief efforts and organizations — this is one charity that doesn’t keep a penny for administration fees. Donations are being used imediately to supply water, hot food, toiletries, baby supplies, warm clothing and blankets, cleaning materials and other supplies to Hurricane Sandy victims left homeless or dispossessed, and for long-term needs, including housing and other efforts re-build and restore neighborhoods and communities affected by Hurricane Sandy.
