Ride a vintage NYC subway any Sunday between November 25 and December 24. It’s the annual Holiday Nostalgia Train from the MTA. Ride back in time in cars that were in service between 1932 and 1977. You remember — light bulbs, woven wicker seats, ceiling fans and windows you could open before the days of air conditioning. Holiday Nostalgia Trains are shuttling between between Queens and Lower Manhattan along the
line this year, a different route than past years because of Hurricane Sandy.
The first trip starts out of Second Avenue at 10:01 a.m. with the last trip leaving Queens Plaza at 4:44 p.m. making all line stops in between, and you can use your modern MetroCard for the fare, just like any other subway ride. Here’s the schedule from the MTA Holiday Nostalgia website page —
Leaving 2nd Ave. –10:01 am, 11:31 am, 1:01 pm, 2:30 pm and 4:01 pm
Leaving Queens Plaza — 10:44 am, 12:14 pm 1:43 pm 3:14 pm 4:44 pm
Take the kids. Take grammie and pops. Happy holiday riding.
