Passover begins next weekend, and there are three family-friendly events in NYC on this Sunday to celebrate the eight-day holiday that commemorates the Exodus of the Jewish people from slavery in Egypt:
Museum of Jewish Heritage – Passover Party with children’s band and entertainers Shirlala, This is an interactive concert suitable for children ages 3 and over and includes a crafts workshop. Tickets are $10 for attendees over the age of ten, and $7 for those under the age of ten. The museum is in Battery Park. Event website.
Yeshiva University Center – There are several shows and events throughout the day. At 10 AM, a puppet show entitled Freedom From Passover to the Civil War, including a reading of the children’s book The Yankee at the Seder. At 11 AM, the Brooklyn group Yellow Sneaker performs Matzoh Time Crunch, telling the story of the Exodus with a combination of puppets and kitchen utensils. In Brooklyn, the Hannah Semesh Community Day School in Carroll Gardens is presenting Step into Passover, which includes an art workshop to make matzoh covers and a concert by the group Bilingual Birdies. Tickets are $5. Event website.
