Starting today, Wednesday, Oct. 9, the Greenwich Village restaurant Philip Marie celebrates Oktoberfest with a special pig roast. It’s a whole pig, marinated for two days in dark beer, and served with a special stout sauce also flavored with hot and sweet peppers. The pig is slow-roasted over organic charcoal in a specially constructed box in the outdoor cafe. In keeping with the German Oktoberfest theme, there’s a special selection of domestic and imported beer.
The three-course meal is $32.95 per person, and it’s being served up every Wednesday in October and beyond. In addition to the weekly “Pig in the Box” feast, Philip Marie presents Clambake Tuesdays and BBQ Sundays. Reservations are strongly recommended by calling 212-242-6200 or on the Philip Marie website. Philip Marie is at 569 Hudson Street at W. 11th Street, open for lunch & dinner Tuesday to Sunday (closed Monday).
