Sign up for the FREE Summer Reading Challenge 2014 from the New York Public Library. Studies show that kids who read regularly during summer vacation keep up or even move ahead in school, while ones who don’t often slide backward. This program is for kids, teens, and adults, too.
Stop by a NYPL branch to talk to a librarian to sign up, set your reading goals, and earn your first achievement, or sign up online. The Summer Reading Challenge page lists books appropriate for each age group, from kindergarten to middle school, as well as pre-school toddlers, plus a log book PDF to download to help you track your reading skills. The list for adult reading is divided into fiction and non-fiction.
Remember also that Barnes & Noble is offering a FREE book to kids to read ten books this summer. Full details on this previous NYCOTC posting.
Summer Reading is about staying sharp while out of school.
