New York City’s most spectacular new holiday light display covers the canopy of the ten-story, glass-enclosed Winter Garden. Its 650 giant LED lights are controlled by visitors, for a unique and ever-changing show of dancing colors and intensity.
Three glowing Wishing Stations are positioned within the Winter Garden, at Brookfield Place in Lower Manhattan. The stations allow guests to send a “wish” to the lanterns above by placing their hands on the touch-sensitive stations.
Upon releasing their hands, color erupts in the canopy above, translating the wish into a mesmerizing display of colors that travel throughout the lanterns.
For every wish sent by the public, Arts Brookfield will donate $1 up to $25,000 to The Grammy Foundation’s “The Grammy in the Schools” program.

In addition, every two hours beginning at 10am and 8pm daily, there are pre-set choreographed light shows inspired by seasonal themes. The five shows are “Snowfall,” “Christmas Tree,” “Ribbons,” “Firecracker,” and “Northern Lights.”
The Winter Garden Luminaries Holiday Lights display is open daily, Dec. 2 through Jan. 10, 2016. FREE, of course.
The display was created by the award-winning design firm Rockwell Group. These luminaries are 650 custom lanterns embedded with LEDs, each capable of changing color and intensity.
