One of the most popular puppet shows for kids is back for the summer in Central Park. Everybody loves Bessie’s Big Shot, which follows Bessie the cow’s dream of joining the circus. Can she fly on a trapeze above the crowd? Can she train a monkey? Can she life more than Ziegfried, the strongest man in the world?
Bessie’s Big Shot is the City Parks Foundation original puppet production. It used to be performed free in NYC parks, but with budget cutbacks, it’s now strictly a ticketed event, but in a real theater instead of on a park lawn.
See Bessie and her friends at Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre in Central Park. Tickets are $7 for kids 12 and under, and $10 for their older siblings, parents and grandparents.
There are performances every day except Monday through August 24, 2014, with multiple performances most days.
You’ll love it because it’s a moo-ving experience. Sorry. Couldn’t resist the pun!
