The NYC Taxi of Tomorrow has a panoramic roof to enjoy the iconic NYC skyline, more legroom, more cargo space, USB ports to charge your phone or iPad, and the seats are treated to fight the germs left behind by sneezing and coughing. The NYC Taxi of Tomorrow is a Nissan van, making its world debut at the NY Auto Show that opens to the public on Friday, April 5th. As NYC taxis wear out, fleet owners will be replacing them with this new model, the Nissan PV200, which also is fuel efficient and rides on a smaller wheelbase than most taxi models now in use in NYC. Nissan says the taxi’s smaller footprint will return more than five square acres of pavement back to New York City pedestrians.
The Nissan Taxi of Tomorrow is being introduced to the media tonight at a special event in Soho, attended by Mayor Bloomberg and Nissan President/CEO Carlos Ghosn. NYC on the Cheap will be there, too.
