NYC store openings, moves

POSTED BY

nyconthecheapJust in time for holiday shopping and dining, and beyond, several new stores and restaurants have opened in Manhattan and Brooklyn.  Here’s what’s new from local merchants and chains:

Soap Cherié – The Williamsburg soap shop opened a pop-up store, also in Williamsburg. It offers organic cupcake-shaped soaps in various colors and scents, handmade nearby in Bushwick, Brooklyn, as well as ice cream-shaped “bath cocktails,” bubble baths, a bath-salt-mix buffet and candles that turn into massage oil.  The holiday shop is at 218 Bedford Ave.

Toby’s Estate Coffee – The Brooklyn-based coffee shop opened a third location, in the West Village. It serves single-origin coffee, tea and hot chocolate, and also has a Brew Parlor, a school that will teach classes on brewing techniques and making latte art. The new coffee shop is at 44 Charles St.

Two Boots – The Cajun-themed pizza chain opened a location in Park Slope. The menu includes their signature pizza, po’ boys and salads, and will also offer more vegan pizzas and use basil and salad greens grown at the Gotham Greens garden on the roof of the Whole Foods in Gowanus, Brooklyn. Get your boots on at 284 Fifth Ave.

The Folly – This is a nautical-themed gastropub, opened in Greenwich Village. The decor evokes a pirate ship and the menu features beer, wine and specialty cocktails, and seafood snacks such as salt cod tater tots, kombucha oyster shooters, lobster mac and cheese, grilled octopus and a fish fry. At 92 West Houston.

LJ Cross – The first by Hamptons interior designer Lisa Jackson, opened on the Upper East Side. It features LJ Cross jewelry, accessories, including alligator clutches and fur collars, and such home furnishing items as glassware, vases and travel blankets. The boutique is at 994 Madison Ave.

Corner of Vermont – The Vermont product shop opened in Park Slope. It offers food from Vermont farms including maple syrup, and will soon offer chili cheese dogs, milkshakes and ice cream.  Get a taste of Vermont at 374 Fifth Ave.

Feit Store – The Australian shoe chain opened its first permanent location outside its home country in Nolita. The minimalist store offers handmade shoes priced around $500 and has an adjacent studio where custom orders and repairs take place. Walk to Australia at 2 Prince St.

Thanks to Crain’s New York Business for this NYC store and restaurant update.
