One of the most popular pages in the NY Times is the photographs of New Yorkers in the Sunday Styles section, and you can see some of the best of them in a special exhibit at the New York Historical Society starting Friday, March 14. The photos are by Bill Cunningham.
Between 1968 and 1976, Cunningham photographed in more than 1,800 New York locations using the late Editta Sherman as his model. The images on display show cutting edge fashion in gritty local surroundings, including a grafitti filled subway and blighted empty lots, because that’s what New York City looked like then.
More about the exhibit Bill Cuningham: Facades on the New York Historical Society website. The museum location is 77th St. and Central Park West.
