These two NYC museums offer the chance for a sleepover adventure for grown-ups only, with adult beverages and entertainment, and the chance to roam the museum by flashlight or candlelight, including special exhibits.
American Museum of Natural History Adults-Only Sleepover
This adventure is a more sophisticated version of the popular AMNH A Night at the Museum sleepover program for kids.
The overnight adventure begins with a champagne reception and music provided by the 12th Night Jazz Trio in the Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Hall.
Explorers then can roam through the nearly empty halls of the Museum, where they might run into a herd of elephants in the Akeley Hall of African Mammals or come face to face with looming dinosaur skeletons, including a 65-million-year-old Tyrannosaurus Rex.
As the evening winds down, you’ll unroll your sleeping bag and curl up under the beloved 94-foot-long blue whale in the Milstein Hall of Ocean Life.
Night at the Museum for grown-ups is Sept. 21/22, 6:30pm to 9am, for ages 21 and over.
It’s pricey, $350 per person, but the memory, as the saying goes, is priceless. Register here.
