Shine up your chain mail, gird your loins, and take thee hence to the 33rd Annual Medieval Festival at The Cloisters, with jesters, jousts with knights on horseback, falconry demonstrations, music, magicians who learned from Merlin not Houdini, and food and drink from local Washington Heights and Inwood merchants.
Activities for the kids include puppets and a dragon, because you can’t have a medieval fair without a dragon.
And it’s all FREE m’ lords and ladies, from 11:30AM to 6PM, Sunday, October 1, 2017 in Ft. Tryon Park, at the northern tip of Manhattan
As always, here’s what’s happening:
The Unicorn Forum features events for kids.
The Field of Honuor includes a living chess match and the Oath of Chivalry
The Pageant Stage includes Celtic Dancers and Joey the Jester.
See the full schedule of events here.
The Cloisters, of course, an art-filled Medieval tower that crowns Manhattan’s highest hill, now part of the Met Museum.
Nearest subway stops are the A train to 190th St. or Dyckman St.
FWIW — NYC on the Cheap founder and editor Evelyn Kanter grew up in Inwood, and Fort Tryon was “my” park.
