NYC Hanukkah Shows for Grown-Ups

POSTED BY
Evelyn Kanter

hanukkah evens for grownupsHanukkah isn’t just for kids.  Grown-ups like to have fun, too.

You don’t have to be Jewish, and you don’t have to spend a lot. As always nothing on NYC on the Cheap is more than $25, so you can enjoy more NYC for less Hanukkah gelt, because we have discount tickets.

These are the best Hanukkah shows for grown-ups. So c’mon baby, light my menorah..

In this joyous MusicTalks performance, Daniella Rabbani, star of The National Yiddish Theater, and 12th Night Klezmer will transport you back in time to a Chanukah Celebration in the Shtetl (a traditional Eastern European village). The evening will include favorite Yiddish songs and also feature Ladino and Yemenite tunes by singer Inbar Goldman – awakening the sound and spirit of the Festival of Lights.

  • Sat., Dec. 8, 7:30pm, at JCC Harlem. Tickets are $18.

Drop that dreidel and hold on to your latkes, The Schlep Sisters are back, heating up the holidays with the 12th Annual Menorah Horah. Celebrate eight crazy nights of Hanukkah in one special evening of music, laughs, latkes and burlesque. The world-class Schlep Sisters – Minnie Tonka and Darlinda Just Darlinda – are set to be joined by premier burlesque stars Sapphire Jones, Zoe Ziegfeld, The Great Dubini and Allegra, with host Bastard Keith to keep you laughing until your candles burn out. Whether you’re a full-fledged member of the tribe or an honorary Jew, the Menorah Horah  in New York will titillate and inspire your holiday spirit.

  • Sun., Dec. 9 only, half-price tickets are just $12.50

America’s favorite Dragapella beauty-shop quartet, The Kinsey Sicks, bring their irreverent humor and award-winning harmonies to NYC for the holidays. Named part of the ‘Best Theater of 2017: Broadway and Beyond’ by Forbes Magazine, Winnie, Rachel, Trixie and Trampolina will all be there to deliver their gut-busting parodies and raucous schtick, warbling wholesome favorites like “God Bless Ye Femmy Lesbians,” “Satan Baby” and “I’m Dreaming of a Vanna White Christmas,” as well as hilarious Jewish satiric fare, including “Don’t Be Happy, Worry” and the Hanukkah spa classic “I Had a Little Facial.”

  • Half-price tickets are $22.50 for dates in December

This is a deal for dinner and a show, together for one price.  This epic holiday show mixing song and stand-up returns with all-around performer and French baritone David Serero. From opera to off-Broadway and jazz concerts to comedy, Serero has done it all — in several countries and in several different languages, no less. And now he brings his multitude of talents to the stage at New York’s Onegin Restaurant for the comedy-musical-tragedy Christmas for Jews. Your ticket includes a three-course holiday meal with appetizer, main course and dessert.

  • $45 for a three-course meal and a show.   Several dates in December.  Just consider the deal $22.50 for each – a meal and a show, and it’s under our $25 limit.
