NYC Free: Young Music Makers Concerts

POSTED BY
Evelyn Kanter

nyc free concertsMore than 2,000 talented young musicians from around the USA and Canada are performing FREE in Lincoln Center in April and May, as part Young Music Makers program.

These musicians are part of high school bands, orchestras and choirs, from from Brooklyn to Oregon, Florida to Minnesota, Canada and Australia, performing in Lincoln Center’s outdoor plaza with pop-up programs of everything from classical to contemporary music.

The concerts are Friday, April 6 through Friday, May 25.

This year’s Young Music Makers draws musicians from 18 states; Alberta, Canada; and New South Wales, Australia.

Some ensembles are regular participants in the program.

One popular multi-appearance group is CT Future Musicians of Portland, Connecticut, celebrating its 18th performance on the Lincoln Center campus on Monday, April 30, at noon. Cliffside Park Middle School of New Jersey will make its eighth appearance in a row on Wednesday, May 23, at 11:00 am.

Meanwhile, half the participating high school ensembles will be making their Lincoln Center debuts.

Now in its second decade, Young Music Makers provides students with the inspirational experience of performing on Lincoln Center’s campus.

This free, unadjudicated program allows ensembles of all abilities and levels to participate, while it gives visitors to Lincoln Center the opportunity to hear some great music for FREE.
