The Ideas City Festival includes family-friendly free performances, exhibits and lectures with an environmental and cultural theme. The big event is the Streetfest on Saturday on the Lower East Side, with exhibits on healthy lifestyles, tastes from Brooklyn Soda Works and Mexicue, archeology tours, dance performances and more. My choice is Bath the Trash, a band that bilds, performans and educates kids with musical instruments made from recycled materials.

Irish Dance Festival – Get those toes tapping at this annual event, in Riverside Park South, also on Saturday, also 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. this is the 12th annual celebration of traditional Irish dance and music, with performances by stars of the Irish dance world and NY area dance schools, workshops in traditional Irish dance for all skill levels, a singer’s circle, Irish language classes, face-painting, children’s craft table and more.
