The US Open comes to Manhattan for the first time later this week for a two-day tennis event featuring FREE entertainment, appearances by top tennis pros and the chance to take selfies with them, family activities, and more. It’s a build-up for what could be Roger Federer’s 20th Grand Slam when the US Open kicks off later in August in Queens.
The US Open Experience is at the South Street Seaport, 10 am to 8pm, Thursday and Friday, August 24 and 25, sponsored by the United States Tennis Association.
The US Open Experience features two defending champions, Swiss-born Stan Wawrinka, who is sitting out this year’s event due to a knee injury, and Germany’s Angelique Kerber, booths, games, music and an introduction to Net Generation, the USTA’s new platform that is making it easier for kids and teens to get into tennis.
You’ll also be able to get a selfie with the trophy or sit in an umpire’s chair. Sponsors include JPMorgan, Spectrum, Mercedes-Benz and Lavazza.

The next day, August 26, is the annual Arthur Ashe Kids Day at Billie King National Tennis Center, with appearances by Roger Federer and Venus Williams, music by such tween favorites as Shawn Mendes, tennis clinics and more.
It’s one of a week of events leading up to the greatest tennis tournament of the year in the USA, right here in NYC.
