Photoville, the annual FREE photography festival returns to Brooklyn Bridge Park bigger and better than before, feauturng work by more than 600 visual artists, plus dozens of seminars and and workshops, outdoor projection shows and more.
The seventh annual Photoville installation is Sept. 13-23 in Brooklyn Bridge Park, with 90 exhibitions housed in and around a collection of 50+ repurposed shipping containers.
Exhibits are either a central theme or a specific photographer or three.
Several exhibits are well worth checking out.
One is an intimate look at the lives of Gold Star families.
Another examines attacks on the press in Mexico.
Yet another exhibit group focuses on the lives of inmates after they leave prison.
“Selfie”, pulls random selfie images from Instagram and prints one out every few seconds. Visitors are encouraged to pick one up and interact with it. Or, you can take your own selfie and have included in the exhibition.
Another exhibit, Altar: Prayer, Rituals, Offerings, is exclusively photos of people around the world engaging in religious events and expriences.
