The Metropolitan Opera’s FREE annual outdoor concerts in NYC parks in June is one of the city’s most beloved summer traditions, with performances in parks in four of the city’s five boroughs.
The 2017 Metropolitan Summer Recital Series kicks off with a concert at Central Park SummerStage on Wed., June 12, in Central Park. All the concerts feature arias and duets from a variety of operas.
It’s part of the annual series of 100 FREE outdoor concerts with performers ranging from opera to jazz, hip hop, even klezmer music.

Mon., June 12, 2017 at 7PM at Central Park SummerStage –
- Metropolitan Opera stars perform an evening of arias & duets from some of opera’s most beloved works featuring soprano Susanna Phillips, mezzo-soprano Elizabeth DeShong, and tenor Stephen Costello, joined by pianist Dan Saunders.
Wed., June 14, 2017 at 7PM at Brooklyn Bridge Park
- Metropolitan Opera stars perform an evening of arias & duets from some of opera’s most beloved works featuring soprano Susanna Phillips, mezzo-soprano Elizabeth DeShong, and tenor Stephen Costello, joined by pianist Dan Saunders.
Fri., June 16, 2017 at 7PM at Clove Lakes Park, Staten Island
- Rising star singers, soprano So Young Park, tenor Petr Nekoranec, and baritone Hyung Yun perform favorite arias & duets in a program presented by the Met Opera with pianist Dan Saunders.
Sat., June 17, 2017, at Crotona Park, Bronx
- Rising star singers, soprano So Young Park, tenor Petr Nekoranec, and baritone Hyung Yun perform favorite arias & duets in a program presented by the Met Opera with pianist Dan Saunders.
Fri., June 23, 2017 at Socrates Sculpture Park, Bronx

No tickets are required for any of the performances, and there are no rain dates, so let’s hope for fair weather.
There also are concerts and dance performances at all the city parks this summer season, under the popular SummerStage program, including hip hop, jazz and klezmer.
