The New York Philharmonic annual free Memorial Day concert at the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine: This year’s program features Beethoven’s “Egmont Overture” and Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 10. Tickets are handed out starting at 6pm, and go fast, so line up early if you want a spot. The concert is at 8pm.
Bring a blanket for the annual Memorial Day concert at on the lawn at Brooklyn’s Green-Wood Cemetery from the student-manned ISO Symphonic Band. They perform the works of some of the cemetery’s permanent residents, including Leonard Bernstein and Fred Ebb. After the concert, take a trolley tour of the park-like cemetery grounds. Concert is at 2:30pm.
