NYC Free: Mammograms & Breast Exams

POSTED BY
Evelyn Kanter

free mammograms in nycMammograms and clinical breast exams are two of the best ways to protect yourself from the ravages of breast cancer.

Women over the age of 40 can get FREE mammograms and exams at a mobile care clinic next Thursday, May 25th, at two locations in Brooklyn.

This offer is from May 2017 and has expired.

The service is open to women with or without health insurance.

If you have insurance, you’ll void co-pays and deductibles.

If you do not have medical insurance, absolutely take advantage of this FREE breast cancer screening.  It could save your life.

Appointments are encouraged.  While walk-ins will be accepted, there is no guarantee that a walk-in patient will be seen.

Appointments can be made through the American Italian Cancer Foundation at (877) 628-9090.

Both medical screenings are at Brooklyn Public Library locations.

Morning:  9am to noon in Borough Park at 1265 43rd St.

Afternoon: 2pm to 4pm in Ditmas Park . at 1305 Cortelyou Rd.

You must be a current resident of New York City, and will need to bring a photo ID.  Also, it must be at least a year since your last screening.

The mobile breast cancer screening van is funded by a grant from the New York State Department of Health’s Cancer Services Program, and hosted by Brooklyn Assemblyman Robert Carroll.

For additional information, call his office, at the American Italian Cancer Foundation and the Brooklyn Public Library. The annual event is an homage to women’s health and is usually held in the fall, with the next event scheduled for Nov. 17 at  (718) 788-7221.

Thanks to the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce for alerting us to this important free women’s health screening eent.
