Discover the fascinating and little-known history of Africans in India, in a FREE lecture at the Schomburg Branch of the NY Public Library. The lecture is Thursday, March 21, and a companion to the new photo exhibit of historic images of Africans in India. The panel includes Dr. Faeeza Jasdanwalla, a descendant of the African dynasty of Janjira, in Western India, and Dr. Robbins and Dr. McLeod, editors of the acclaimed African Elites in India. Moderator: Dr. Sylviane A. Diouf.
Although admission is FREE, registration is required to ensure space. And even if you can’t make the lecture, you can view the photo exhibit through June 2013. The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture is at 135th St. and Lenox Ave. The #2 and #3 trains stop at the front door.
