Formula E Championship Tickets From $12

POSTED BY
Evelyn Kanter

Formula ePrix NYCThe FIA Formula E Championship returns to NYC the weekend of July 13/14.  It’s your only opportunity to see Formula One style cars race in NYC.

See teams including from Audi Sport, BMW Andretti, Nissan eDam, Venturi, Panasonic Jaguar, Virgin and Mahindra race for the season trophy.

Since these are all-electric vehicles, it’s also a glimpse at the future of zero-emission driving, because so much of what is learned on  racetracks leads to our driveways.

The E-Prix is the world’s first fully-electric racing series, with races around the world, from Monaco to Montreal, Beijing to Brooklyn, and it’s been growing in popularity with more teams and more excitement each season.

As with conventional Formula One racing, much of what is learned on the track trickles down to our personal vehicles.  In the case of Formula E racing, the top of the list is battery power and battery management, so electric vehicles can travel longer and faster between charges.

2019 is the third year Formula E races in NYC, and 2019 is the second year that NYC hosts the championship races.

Again this year, it’s a two-day doubleheader championship finale, on July 13 and 14, when 11 teams race at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal, in what is becoming known as the modern Battle of Brooklyn (there was another Battle of Brooklyn, in the Revolutionary War, but that’s another story for another time).

It’s a family-friendly affair with lots of exhibits, including the chance to test drive – virtually, of course – the latest electric vehicles.

To answer your question – no, Tesla does not compete in Formula E racing.

Here’s more about Mahindra, one of the world’s largest automotive companies, and one you probably haven’t heard of.

Some background on the FIA Formula E Championship

The FIA Formula E Championship is the world’s first fully-electric single-seater racing series, competing on the streets against the backdrop of some of the most iconic cities – including Hong Kong, Marrakesh, Buenos Aires, Monaco, Paris, New York and Montreal.

The championship represents a vision for the future of the motor industry, serving as a platform to showcase the latest innovations in electric vehicle technology and alternative energy solutions.

Future seasons will see the regulations open up further allowing manufacturers to focus on the development of motor and battery components, which in turn will filter down to everyday contemporary electric road vehicles.
