A huge Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th discount outlet opens in Brooklyn on Thursday, Oct. 13th, with more than 800 designer labels slashed to affordable prices. The first 50 customers each day through Sunday get a chance to win a $100 gift card.
The new Saks Fifth Avenue Off Fifth outlet is at 850 Third Avenue at 29th St., in the Liberty View Industrial Plaza. Unfortunately for dedicated bargain hunters, that is Nowheresville as far as public transportation is concerned.
The new Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th is a ten minute hike from either one of the two nearest subway stops, the 25th St. station on the R or the 36th St. station on R. Not convenient at all. But it may be worth the schlep for the bargains.
Let’s hope they are better than the Bloomingdale’s Outlet on 72nd St. and Broadway in Manhattan, which fails to impress NYCOTC.
Also now open in Brooklyn is the latest outpost of discounter Century 21. The new store is in City Point center, 445 Albee Square West at Fulton Street.
There’s also an Off 5th location in Manhattan, on East 57th St., between Park and Lex, in the space that use to be the home of Daffy’s, the discounter that went out of business a couple of years ago.
