NYC cheap tickets $10 or less

POSTED BY
Evelyn Kanter

nyc shows $25 or lessWhy spend a fortune on theater tickets, harbor cruises and other events, when there are so many great NYC tickets for $10 or less. Here are our top choices for cheap tickets this weekend through mid-September:

The Wiz – Ease on down the road to enjoy this musical once again for just $10. The winner of seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical, this Broadway sensation has inspired numerous revivals and a beloved movie starring Diana Ross and Michael Jackson. Now the magic continues with the New York Black Arts Festival’s hip and modern production. A soulful retelling of L. Frank Baum’s The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, The Wiz combines fairy-tale glamour with street-wise soul to form a mysterious and fanciful fantasy for today. With a lively mix of rock, gospel and soul tunes, this production features a score full of beloved hits like “Ease on Down the Road,” “A Brand New Day” and “Home.”

nye cheap theater ticketsTwelve Angry Women–  This is an all-female cast version of the Emmy award-winning Broadway play that became an award-winning Hollywood film starring Henry Fonda.  When a young man from the wrong side of the tracks is on trial for the murder of his father, the 12 members of the jury must overcome their own prejudices and assumptions to reach a consensus on his fate. The verdict is nearly unanimous, but a single dissenter forces them to face their own prejudices and unite their conflicting personalities to find true justice. This is edge-of-your-seat drama at a theater in midtown.

Champagne Cruise in NY Harbor – More than just a boat ride, this classic 1920s-style sailing ship provides great views as it circles lower New York, passes by Governors Island, closely approaches the Statue of Liberty, glides under the Brooklyn Bridge and sails past the historic South Street Seaport on its 90-minute excursion. Admission includes one beer, wine, champagne, soda or water to enjoy as you take in the sights from the outdoor or climate-controlled observatory decks.
